About the Event
Join us as we ring in the New Year by celebrating community, culture, and history at the California African American Museum. We’ll explore the exhibit We Are Not Strangers Here: African American Histories in Rural California, which highlights the significant contributions of Black Californians to rural communities and challenges myths about early California. After the museum visit, we’ll gather at Mercado La Paloma for a meal to reflect on the stories we’ve learned and share a moment of connection.
Here’s what to expect:
A powerful and thought-provoking exhibit exploring the history of African Americans in rural California.
Insights into the challenges Black Californians faced, from building homesteads to fighting for equal rights.
Great company and an opportunity to learn and engage in meaningful conversation.
A delicious meal at Mercado La Paloma to continue the conversation and build connections with one another.
